Eagles beat Lone Star 2-0 in Monrovia

Super
The Super Eagles continued their impressive preparation for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda when they thrashed the Lone Star of Liberia 2-0 in Monrovia on Wednesday.
A brace from Sunday Mbah ensured the Eagles, made up of players from the domestic league, recorded their third victory in four friendly games under coach Stephen Keshi.
Meanwhile, the Nations Cup qualifier between Rwanda and Nigeria fixed for February 29 will kick off at 3.30pm in Kigali (1.30pm Nigerian time).
A letter from the Rwandai Football Association received by the Nigeria Football Federation also confirmed that the artificial turf of the Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali will host the encounter. The turf is not new to the Eagles as they battled the Wasps to a 1-1 draw at the same venue in a 2006 World Cup qualifier.
The return leg will be played in Nigeria in mid-June and the winner on aggregate will proceed to the final round of qualifiers, against one of the teams that played in the just-concluded 2012 edition. That final round of qualifiers will take place between September and October to determine the teams that will play at next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
