Air Nigeria suspended for Audit Purposes - NCAA

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the flights of Air Nigeria in order to audit its aircraft and operations.

The audit became necessary after pilots and engineers working with the carrier had embarked upon a one week industrial action to protest poor working conditions and breach of agreements by airline management.
The pilot's and engineers under the aegis of National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) called off the strike after airline management came to terms with them.
NCAA spokesman Sam Adurogboye said: "It is a routine action to enable us look at the airline's operations before allowing it to go back to operations again, having been on strike for days. This is normal."
NAAPE President Isaac Balami said: "I want to announce here officially that the strike was called off and our members went back to work and the airline was not grounded due to safety reasons as we did communicate to the press, but due to welfare package.
"We believe that if we did not intervene or come into the issue, it could lead to incident or accident and we all know why there was a delay because the management of Air Nigeria did not agree with the association on the issues that were on ground. And because of that, it took us a lot of time before the Chairman of Air Nigeria addressed our members. So, the strike has been called off."
