Fayose confident of winning 2014 gov poll

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose

Former Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State on Friday officially declared his intention to contest the 2014 governorship election while expressing the confidence that he would win.
Fayose, speaking at the declaration ceremony done beside the Peoples Democratic Party Secretariat on Ajilosun Road, said he was sure of winning the party’s ticket if all PDP aspirants were given a level playing ground at the primaries.
He said he stood a better chance in the election because the people of the state were tired of the Action Congress of Nigeria’s administration.
The declaration caused a traffic jam as security agents struggled to control vehicular movement at the well-attended ceremony.
Fayose warned against imposition, saying the PDP was sent to the background because of the problems arising from previous cases of imposition.

The former governor said he was well loved by civil servants and teachers because he made their welfare his primary concern when he was in power.
Fayose said, “Anybody who is sacked illegally or removed from office among the civil servants or teachers will be restored back to their positions. You know I don’t lie. When I say I will do something, I will surely do it.
“I want to give the assurance that I will address, redress all injustices committed under this administration immediately I am sworn in on October 16, 2014.”
He later submitted his letter of intent to the PDP chairman in the state, Mr. Makanjuola Ogundipe, who assured all aspirants of a level playing ground.
Some of the dignitaries who attended the declaration were Fayose’s former deputy, Mr. Abiodun Aluko; a member of the Board of Trustees of PDP, Senator Clement Awoyelu; PDP Chairman in Ogun State, Dayo Bayo; PDP Chairman in Lagos, Capt. Tunji Shelle; Zonal Youth Leader, Bolaji Jeje and Woman Leader, Ogun State, Lawumi Eyuba.
