The
late former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Agagu, will begin his
final journey home on Monday (today) with a tribute session to be held
in his honour at the International Conference Center, University of
Ibadan.
Agagu was a Senior Lecturer in the Geology Department of the UI before he ventured into politics.
Ondo State Commissioner for Information,
Mr. Kayode Akinmade, told journalists in Akure, the state capital, on
Sunday that the state was prepared to receive the body of the former
governor at the Akure Airport by 9am on Thursday. The body will be
lying-in -state at the Democracy Park, Akure, on Thursday.
Akinmade, who is also a member of the
burial committee constituted by the state government, said there would
be another lying-in-state and wake same day at the Civic Centre,
Iju-Odo, in the Okitipupa Local Government Area.
The ex-governor will be buried on
October 4 after a burial service at the St Paul’s Anglican Church,
Iju-Odo by 11am, the Commissioner said.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko had at a
special prayer session for the state in Akure charged the people of the
state to troop out for to honour his late predecessor during the burial
ceremonies.
Mimiko had also declared a seven-day of mourning in the state in honour of the late Agagu.
