Police nab two over alleged killing of ex-army general

Two persons have been arrested by the police in Lagos State over the killing of a retired army general, Brigadier General Umai Jabil Uwurigbe (rtd), and an attempt to murder his wife, Mrs. Uwurigbe, in their apartment at Badagry area of Lagos State.
The suspect, who were identified as Samuel Sosu (38) and Sosube Abiodun (23), were apprehended recently by homicide operatives from State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti Yaba, Lagos.
Vanguard gathered that the duo, who were working for the General in his farmland, absconded after they allegedly perpetrated the act on Tuesday, September 20, 2011.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, who paraded the suspects, yesterday, said the general was macheted to death after the suspects and one other attacked him in his apartment at his residence at Iragon Village, along Ado-Odo Road, Morogbo, Badagry.
According to him, “while they were killing the General, his wife saw them and recognised them and consequently attacked her.
”The wife of the deceased was able to identify the suspects and Sosu was immediately arrested while Sosube was arrested a month later in Ogun State. However, one suspect is still at large.”
Jinadu noted that the suspects were citizens of Benin Republic residing in Nigeria illegally, adding that the case would soon be transferred to court.
