Groups, workers hail Mimiko, Fayemi over minimum wage

A group, Ondo Assembly For Better Living, on Sunday commended Governor Olusegun Mimiko for approving N22,000 as minimum wage across board for civil servants in Ondo State.
Also, the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties and workers of Ekiti State have hailed Governor Kayode Fayemi for extending the payment of the minimum wage to state workers on Grade Level 7 to 17.
The Ondo Assembly for Better Living described Mimiko as “a bonafide progressive whose actions had left no one in doubt about his sincere commitment to giving good life to his people”.
The group, in a statement by the President and Secretary, Mr. Olasoji Delly and Mr. Supo Babalola respectively, said it was motivated to give a public appraisal of the Mimiko government because of the surprise minimum wage package.

The N22,000 as minimum wage for civil servants in the state, is an improvement on the Federal Government approved N18,000 minimum wage.
The Assembly commended Mimiko for his achievements in his three-year administration in the state.
The Ekiti workers showered encomiums on Fayemi at a meeting with the governor on Friday.
The Chairman of the Trade Union Congress in the state, Mr. Kolawole Olaiya, said the workers were happier and more motivated. He added that they would put in their best and work for the development of the state.
He said, “This new wage you have signed is a manifestation of your good self, and a manifestation of your commitment to our welfare and we shall reciprocate this gesture.”
The Chairman of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties in the state, Mr. Tunji Ogunlola, in a statement on Sunday, said the new wage would motivate the workers to give their best.
The group commended the governor for approving higher than the N18,000 minimum wage passed into law by the National Assembly.
