Although the agenda of the meeting was not made public as usual, a source in the Presidency described the parley as routine.
He said the meeting, which lasted for about three hours, was called to appraise the security situation in the country “across all spheres.”
The source added that the meeting assessed the emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states as well as the raging issue of oil theft that has depleted the nation revenue base.
As usual, none of those who attended offered to speak with journalists at the end of the meeting.
Those in attendance included the Chief of Defence Staff, Ola Said; Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubike Ihejirika; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba; Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, and the Director-General of State Security Service, Ita Ekpeyong.
Members of the Federal Executive Council, who attended with the President were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim; Minister of Police Affairs, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade(retd.); Minister of State, Defence, Olusola Obada; and the National Security Adviser, Col. Dasuki Sambo (retd.) among others.
No official statement was issued at the end of the meeting.
