Nigeria
coach Stephen Keshi and US-based ex-internationals Paul Okoku and
Godwin Odiye have donated a generator worth N350,000 to their Alma Mata,
St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School, Ebute- Metta, Lagos.
The trio have been previously donated
equipment ranging from computers to trophies for inter-house sports
competition in the recent past,
Okoku, a member of the silver winning
Green Eagles at the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations, said, “When I, Keshi and
Odiye presented computers to St Paul ‘s Catholic Primary School in
September 2012, the Mainland Secretary of Education, Mr. Lawrence
Adetona, requested for a generator. Instantly Keshi told him, ‘We shall
get you a generator.’
“I am happy that we have delivered the
generator worth N350,000 as promised to the school through the
headmistress, Mrs. G.O. Jalekun. We are committed to putting smiles on
the students’ faces as we gradually redeem our pledges to the school in
the coming months.”
On his part, Keshi said the trio understood the essence of uninterrupted electricity in the education of the child.
“The generator will help the children in
achieving their academic goals because it will give the pupils the
opportunity to achieve their academic goals without electricity
interruption.”
