Fayemi said this in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, during the official hoisting of the APC flag.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin; state Chairman of the APC, Chief Jide Awe; and other prominent members of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria.
The governor called on the members of the new party to begin to promote the party in all the units and wards in the state.
He said, “There are no senior members or junior members in the APC. What will earn you leadership position is the number of people you bring in. There is no discrimination here, our party wants everybody. Those of them on the other side, who are on the way to perdition and have realised and want to travel to heaven, are welcome.
“We won’t allow the locusts to invade our state again. We will deal with them with ballots. The APC will continue with the good works we have started. We will step up the good works and everybody will feel the positive impact of our government.”
Deriding the PDP for the recent crisis which rocked the party in Ekiti State over consensus arrangement, Fayemi said more than 20 governorship aspirants were fighting for a ticket without a clear-cut method to be used to select the candidate.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Budget and Research, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, has urged members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change and the All Nigeria Peoples Party to continue with their support, which led to the birth of the APC.
Bamidele, who is on pilgrimage to Israel, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent on Monday.
The statement read in part, “All party members, especially those coming from the CPC to continue unflinching support and sustain the doggedness that brought the progressives to power in the state.
