FG sacks 3 Aviation chiefs


THE Federal Government, yesterday, relieved heads of three aviation agencies of their positions.
Among the head of the agencies sacked is the Rector, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, Zaria, Captain Adebayo Araba, who was appointed as rector in 2007.
Others are the Managing Director of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria,FAAN, Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun and the Managing Director of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency,NAMA, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Auyo.
Meanwhile, the development has been hailed by Nigerian Aviation Professional Association, NAPA.
NCAT Rector, Vanguard learnt, has been replaced with the director of flying in the school, Captain Chinyere Kalu, while FAAN managing director was replaced with the Director of Operations, Mr. George Uriesi, The sacked NAMA boss was replaced with the agency’s Director of Electronics and Engineering Services, Mazi Nnamdi Udoh.
Special Adviser to the Minister on Media, Mr. Joe Obi, when contacted on phone for confirmation, said he was not aware but promised to get back.
The sack of the chief executives has started generating criticisms across the sector with some groups commending the development while others condemned it.
Mr. Abdulrazak Saidu, Secretary General, Nigerian Aviation Professional Association, NAPA, said the sack was  welcomed even as he advised that the sack must reflect federal character.
He, however, appealed to the minister to extend the sack to other top management levels including the directorate and general manager levels.
Others faulted the sack on the ground that it will affect the stability in the industry.
