In
his reaction to the Supreme Court judgement, the candidate of the
Congress for Progressive Change in the April Presidential Election,
Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, said the Supreme Court turned a blind eye
to the evidence presented by his party which showed gross violation of
the electoral act and the principles of free and fair contest.
Condemning the unanimous decision of the Supreme Court Panel, Buhari said it was politically motivated and devoid of judicial content, adding that the judgement merely followed a pattern established in 2003 and 2007.
The Former Head of State of Nigeria said that contrary to the popular view that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega, is a man of integrity and competence, the INEC boss did not demonstrate such during the election, adding that the country would have to live with the consequences of the Supreme Court judgement.
