Attack On UN Building, Assault On Global Peace - Jonathan

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, has expressed disgust at Friday’s terrorist attackon the United Nations Building in Abuja, describing the “barbaric,senseless and cowardly” act as an attack on global peace and security.
In a statement signed by Dr. Reuben Abati, his Special Adviser on Mediaand Publicity, Jonathan, who expressed the sympathy of the Federal Government, said he believed that the attack was a most despicable assault on the UN’s objectives of global peace and security, and the sanctity of human life to which Nigeria wholly subscribes.
The statement said he had extended his sincere condolences to the UN Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon and all members of the UN family who lost loved ones in the heinous attack.
Jonathan reaffirmed the FG’s total commitment to vigorously combat the incursion of all forms of terrorism into Nigeria, and reassured all Nigerians and the international communitythat his administration would spare no effort to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Meanwhile, the president has directed all relevant government agencies to assist in the search and rescue effort at the UN building, and ordered heightened security across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), urging all Nigerians to cooperate fully with thegovernment in its efforts to “expose the desperate elements who promote violence, terrorism and division in the country.”(Nigerian Tribune)
