Police arrest 3 for raping corps member in Kano



The Kano State police command has arrested three suspects for  allegedly raping a member of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in the state, just as the police also apprehended three suspected robbers in police uniforms.
The suspected rapists admitted that they committed the crime.
Speaking with the newsmen in Kano, on Monday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, disclosed that the command arrested a total of 28 criminal suspects, majority involved in robberies, with a few arrested for rape.
Idris added that the command had also recovered a total of 22 vehicles of various makes, while three suspects who were involved in luring victims into their vehicles supposedly being used for transportation were also in the police net.
The state police boss disclosed that the youth corps member, on the fateful day, went to a school where she was posted, but met the three suspected rapists.
She was reported to have asked for help to locate the office of the principal, before she was lured into an uncompleted building, with a threat that she would be killed if she did not cooperate with them.
The police boss, however, commended members of the press and  the public for their useful information, saying that without their support, the police could not have succeeded  in arresting the men of underworld.
“I want to express our appreciation to you members of the public and the media for your support and confidence in the police, especially in this state.
“The information we received from all of you has made our work easier and the society safer. I want you to continue to give us more support in form of information, so that we can serve you better,” the state police boss said.
