Senator vows to mobilise against bill on same sex marriage

Senator Phillip Aduda has pledged to work towards frustrating the passage of any bill that would encourage same sex marriage in the country.
Aduda said this, weekend,  at the  maiden awards ceremony and launch of N100 million projects fund by Abuja chapter of women’s wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, WOWICAN.
Aduda,  who was represented by Zephaniah Jisalo, a member of the House of Representatives, vowed to lobby his colleagues in the National Assembly to prevent the bill from sailing through if it was presented.
At the event, the Chairperson of Abuja chapter of WOWICAN, Mrs Philo Uche, stated that her group was opposed to the idea, adding that  the group would frustrate the passage of any law that would legalise same sex marriage in the country.
She said: “We are 100 per cent against same sex marriage; and we would fight it to the last. This is because it is against the word of God as contained in the Holy Bible.”
She stated that her group had gone to the National Assembly to lobby against the passage of any law that would support the legalization of homosexuality or anything associated with it.
On the awards, she said that the FCT chapter of WOWICAN had  instituted it to recognize Nigerians who had touched the lives of ordinary people in the country.
Uche said:  “What we are saying through these awards to those who have received them is that they should continue with the good work they are doing.”
She said the group had touched the lives of women and children in FCT through visits to prisons, orphanages, hospitals and disabled peoples homes, adding that the FCT Chapter had also provided a platform for spiritual growth and socialization for its members.
A award recipient, Rev Olubunmi Badejo thanked God that she was found worthy to be honoured.
She further stated that WOWICAN had been involved in supporting women residents of the FCT to realize their potentials.
Speaking at the occasion, another recipient of the award  Mrs Bola Ihesiulor of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) stated that her family would be inspired by the award to continue doing the charity work they had been engaged in.
