Star Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has added her voice to those denouncing the controversial move by the federal government to remove subsidy on petrol.
‘I think the government is
insensitive, we thought this subsidy removal issue was going to take
effect tentatively by April all of a sudden this? I am not in support of
this at all! If there are cabals who are profiting off the subsidy
system, are they faceless? Can’t they be identified? This is a strain on
the already over-burdened masses. No, I’m not at all in support of it!‘
She also spoke on measures by the federal government to ease the strain caused by the move on the part of the masses.
‘Palliative measures are supposed to
come before introducing such an action. Besides a little over a
thousand buses for a population close to two hundred million? Are those
buses free? Even if they are free, are we supposed to ride them to
hospitals when we are sick and everything will be taken care of because
we rode on free buses?’, She asked rhetorically.
On the assumption that she was part of
the entertainers who generally supported the President during his
presidential campaign, she shot back, ‘I never campaigned for
Jonathan, go and check your records! Those who did that know themselves.
I never ever endorsed Jonathan. Look at what we are in now. They’ve
pushed us to the wall too long, we cannot go through the wall, we will
bounce back and will fight back.Source
