THE crisis rocking Plateau State took another frightening dimension, on Sunday, when a heavy bang suspected to be bomb blast rocked the West of Mines part of the state capital, causing pandemonium in the neighbourhood.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that the incident occurred at about 8:00 p.m, when a man on a motorcycle threw a bomb concealed in a polythene bag at some group of people relaxing at the West of Mines but missed the target.
An eyewitness told the Nigerian Tribune that the bomb landed in a nearby gutter and went off immediately, leading to pandemonium within the vicinity, while those selling assorted drink and fish scampered for safety.
It further learnt that while the people in the area were running for their lives, another bomb planted close to MTN mast in the area went off, thus compounding the frightening situation.
Immediately, men of the Anti-Bomb squad of the Plateau State police command cordoned off the area and combed the entire vicinity to detect if more bomb were still planted within the area.
A source close to the police told the Nigerian Tribune that no one sustained injury in the explosion, though attempts to get official confirmation of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Dipo Ayeni, were not fruitful.
