Nigerian Tribune learnt that the students left the campus as a result of the Islamist group's threat and other issues raised by the institution's Student Union Government (SUG) .
It was further gathered that most of them have decided to stay off campus while others have returned to their various homes.
It will be recalled that leaders of UI Student Union Government, on Wednesday, invaded examination halls and disrupted the second semester examinations as a result of the threat.
There was confusion as some of the students who had reported for examinations were caught unawares by the action of the student leaders.
However, due to the Boko Haram threat, the institution’s management had postponed the second semester examination till September 19, 2011.
The decision to shift the examination date, was contained in a bulletin released on Wednesday.
The management had also allayed the fears of residents of the university community and urged them to report any suspicious movement to the school authorities for prompt action.
Futhermore, the institution's Registrar, Mrs Omotayo Ikotun, appealed to the students to return as normal academic activities were still on.
