There was pandemonium at the Federal Ministry of Information, Abuja,
Thursday as staff and visitors as well as passersby ran in different
directions over rumours of bomb explosion.
The 9-floors building also houses the headquarters of Federal Radio
Cooperation of Nigeria, FRCN, Voice of Nigeria and the Ministry of
Information.
The situation, however, was brought under control, even while the
Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, was at Presidential Retreat
currently going on in the city.
According to one of the staff in the building, there was a letter
warning staff of the ministry of a possibility of bombing the building.
The source said that at about 10am, a mystery bag was left unattended to by unknown persons on the 6th floor of the building.
As the rumour of the mystery bag filtered into the ears of the staff, they all decided to run for their dear lives.
It was later discovered to be a false alarm, and at the time of
filing this report, all the workers had gone back to their duty posts.
