Fresh attack on police station in Kano

Suspected Members of the radical Islamic sect, Boko Haram on Monday evening attacked the Sharadan police station in Kano. The attackers succeeded in denoting bombs at the station.

Eye Witnesses at the scene of the attack said that the attackers exchanged fire with the officials of the Joint Security Taskforce deployed to the station for 45 minutes.

The attackers however fled the area after they were overpowered by the officials of the security taskforce.

The number of casualties from the attack could not be ascertained as at the time of this report.

The past three months have seen a surge in violence by Boko Haram, a movement loosely modelled on Afghanistan's Taliban which says it is fighting to install sharia law across Nigeria.
