Obi gives N1m each to widows of Mubi massacre

GOVERNOR Peter Obi Sunday presented a cheque of N1 million each to 14 widows whose husbands were murdered by suspected Boko Haram members in Mubi, Adamawa State, thereby redeeming the promise he made last week.
He presented the cheques after a church service at St Andrew’s Catholic Church, Adazi-Nnukwu where he also warned against people trying to make political gains out of the Mubi incident.
Obi, who attended the church service in company of his wife, Margaret and member representing Anaocha/Njikoka/Dunukofia federal constituency, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, said the Adamawa State government promised to pay compensation to the victims.
While calling on the people of Anambra State to remember those who died in prayers and assist their families in any way possible to enable them move on with life, the governor commended the people of Adazi-Nnukwu for maintaining calm in the face of the unfortunate development and advised against revenge of any sort, saying “vengeance is God’s.”
The senator representing Anambra Central, Dr. Chris Ngige who also attended the church service, commended Obi for what he described as his show of compassion, noting that “politics or no politics, whoever is doing good should be commended.”
