Fire: Ameachi promises assistance

RIVERS State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has sympathised with victims of the fire incident in Igwuruta that claimed the lives of six persons and destroyed property worth about N150m.
The inferno, which began in the wee hours of Saturday, was caused by petroleum tanker which crashed at Igwuruta Roundabout, spilling its content in the process.
The governor, who visited the scene of the accident, expressed sadness over the loss of lives and property.
Describing the incident as “disastrous,” Amaechi was shocked by the loss of an entire family in the fire that destroyed over 30 houses.
“It is so disastrous. I hear an entire family is gone, husband, wife and their children. Now look at the level of damage,” he said.
