Channels TV Reporter – Enenche Akogwu Shot Dead On Location of Kano Bomb Blasts

Channels TV reporter - Enenche Akogwu was shot dead by unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect, while trying to report on the Kano bomb blasts that rocked the city yesterday.
The 31 year old reporter who arrived shortly after the  first explosion of the Farm center police station attack in Kano,  reportedly went out to meet a few people loitering around to ask them if they could tell him what they had witnessed. Rather than do that, one of the people pulled out a gun, shot and killed him on the spot.
The late reporter graduated from Benue State University in 2004 and joined Channels Television as a reporter in Abuja two years ago. He was later made the station’s correspondent in Kano.
A resourceful and fearless reporter, Enenche Akogwu covered the northern region uncovering breaking stories and events across the troubled northern region. He was the winner of Channels Television’s 2011 Chairman’s award and was honoured at the station’s end of the year celebration.
Akogwu had only returned to Kano two days ago after spending some time in Lagos.

RIP Enenche Akogwu! Our prayers are with your family and friends.
“My love for Nigeria has been a compelling impetus charting the course of my life courageous in the face of adversities, hopeful when confronted with despair and delighted when the society makes appreciable progress.”
- Enenche Akogwu
