Withdrawal limit: CBN challenges court’s jurisdiction to hear suit

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), on Tuesday, challenged the jurisdiction of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to hear the suit filed  against it by 11 communities in Delta State over the apex bank’s cash withdrawal limit.
The trial judge,Justice Adamu Bello, subsequently fixed October 11 to hear the preliminary objection of the bank.
The court also fixed that date to entertain the application for the enforcement of the fundamental human rights of the riverine communities.
The communities, led by a human rights activist in the Niger Delta, Mr Eyiri Emami, had dragged the CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to court , over the directive of the apex bank which pegged the daily withdrawal limit by individuals and corporate organisations at N150,000 and N1million respectively.
But counsel for the CBN and Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation who was also joined in the suit, Mr Damian Dodo (SAN), in his notice of preliminary objection, asked the court to dismiss the suit for failing to disclose any reasonable cause of action.

I don't "buy" this CBN's idea of withdrawal limit at all...have a nice day people
