Christian Association of Nigeria President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor,has advised the Federal Government not to be shy in seeking assistance from the international community over the spate of bomb explosions in the country.
He said that Nigeria needed the support of other countries that had experienced a similar problem, adding that the nation could benefit from their technical assistance and intelligence support.
According to him, the attacks were beyond the capacity of the ordinary suspects, adding that the financing and technology involved in bomb-making showed that the sponsors are not ordinary citizens.
Speaking with journalists after visiting victims of the United Nations office bomb blast at the National Hospital, Abuja on Friday, the CAN president pleaded with the perpetrators of the blasts to desist,stressing that no one had the right to take lives.
He described the blasts as ‘un-Nigerian,’ pointing out that Nigerians were known for good neighbourliness, a trait he said was African. He lauded those that donated blood to save the lives of the victims.
Oritsejafor challenged security agents to rise to the threat facing the country, describing the bomb incidents as a wake-up call to them.
He prayed for the patients as well as therestoration of peace in the country and exhorted the victims to have faith in God who preserved their lives.
“I am glad to hear thatthe government has reached out for international help, it is the right thing to do. The government should not be shy to ask for help and assistance from the international community. The European countries canhelp Nigeria because they have experienced terrorist attacks before and their experiences could assist us to curb this problem,” Oritsejafor said.
He commended security agents on the arrest of some suspects and encouraged them to work harder to get the sponsors of the attacks.(Punch Newspaper)
